Exercise

To keep lean and low stress I run five miles every afternoon, with six pound weights every other mile on a grass track to prevent shin splints. This takes me about 40 mins to an hour depending on how well I slept the previous night. I aim to get a solid eight hours of sleep a night but when I'm squeezed for time between work or school it's difficult to get to bed early. I exercise to tone my body and feel more confident in myself. On the weekends, in the morning, I run five miles before breakfast to strengthen my endurance. In the same day I will do my usual afternoon running. I never run midday because my skin is more light sensitive than most people, I burn terribly. Back when I only ran one or two miles a day I used to do a variety of floor exercises such as push ups and crunches to tone my stomach. I never noticed much improvement from doing them. Many people say that running doesn't slim you down, but increasing my running has drastically changed my body and happiness. If you can commit yourself to running for at least 40 mins a day you will shape up with in a week or two.

Diet

I do my best to drink plenty of water through out the day to flush out toxins and keep hydrated through my running. For breakfast I usually have pancakes with blueberries, strawberries, or bananas with caramel chai or green tea. Between breakfast and lunch I get hungry and have a banana, apple, or whole grain crackers. I only eat whole grain bread because it is the most nutritious bread for you. My lunch varies, I usually have a banana and grape granola salad or a banana and peanut butter sandwich. In the afternoon I have another small snack of fruit or crackers. For dinner I have rice, beans, fish or chicken, and a side of salad. I do not count calories or portion my meals. I eat what is good for me until my hunger is satisfied. I avoid salad dressing, dairy, and anything high in preservatives, fats, and oils. I avoid dairy because milk and yogurt upset my stomach. Dairy also gives me acne. To make up for the lack of dairy in my diet I take calcium supplements.
